10 Best Cat Products of 2019

I see a lot of new products each year, and I try to share as many of the good ones with you as I can. And of course, Allegra and Ruby have been busy helping me review many of them for you throughout the year. With so many products, it’s really hard to choose only 10 favorites, but with the help of my two product testers, we’ve come up with our list of the 10 best for this year, listed in no particular order.

Weruva Patés

We’ve long been fans of Weruva and consider it one of the best wet foods on the market. If you’re familiar with Weruva, you already know that their regular formulas are shredded – something that may not be to every cat’s liking. Now, even cats who prefer paté style food can enjoy Weruva.  These formulas look a little different from other patés: they’re more like a smoothie than a mush. They contain the same quality ingredients as their shredded formulas, except they are genty puréed. They come in cans and the new Slide ‘N Serve pouches, and are available in chicken only, fish only and mixed protein options.

Cateeth Soft Toothbrush with 306° Head

This new entry into the cat toothbrush market is a a silicone brush with soft bristles that cover the entire surface of the brush head. The patent pending professional design ensures quick and complete teeth cleaning. Made from FDA food grade non-toxic, BPA free silicone, it features a sturdy handle with a solid stainless steel interior. We loved this so much that we gave it our coveted Seal of Approval.

Volana Kote Whisker Jewelry

Volana Kote (aka Jen Glick) is a Delaware based jewelry designer who creates gorgeous pieces incorporating naturally fallen cat whiskers. Jen has always saved her cats’ whiskers. “They bring good luck,” she says. She has also designed jewelry as long as she can remember, and one day, she started incorporating whiskers into her designs. We love her gorgeous pieces, which range from necklaces to earrings to bracelets. She also offers keychains, cuff links and tie clips. Most pieces are available with a choice of different metals. And yes, she can make custom pieces with your cat’s whiskers.

KATRIS Nest Multi-Functional Cat Lounge

The KATRIS Nest is a multi-functional lounge is designed to have cats scratch, rest, lounge and even get a little massage in the process. SmartCat Ultimate Scratching Post in Grey

When it comes to scratching posts, bigger is usually better. The SmartCat Ultimate Scratching Post is the tallest and sturdiest post we’ve come across. The 32″ height allows cats to stretch fully and tone muscles, and the sturdy 16″ by 16″ base eliminates tipping and wobbling. And now it’s available in a gorgeous grey color! I was excited when I saw the new color, because even though I like the look of the original post, the grey couldn’t be a more purrfect fit for my office.

Cat Ladder Feline Furniture

These beautifully designed ladders offer endless options to create vertical space for your cats. They come in 6 different sizes, from three to eight steps. They come in six different wood finishes and are also available unfinished. You also have a choice of several different carpet colors as well as a sisal covering. The carpet pads attach with velcro strips and can be easily replaced if needed. The steps come in two different widths. New this year: the Birch Ladder in a gorgeous light colored wood.

We are big fans of Dezi & Roo here. The company was founded by our resident feline veterinarian, Dr. Lynn Bahr. The company name was inspired by two cats of the same names.

It may seem odd to you that I included a simple plastic litter scoop in my best products list, but let’s face it, if a product that you’re going to use multiple times a day makes your life easier, it deserves to be highlighted. Finally, a dental product backed by science that keeps gums healthy and is super easy to administer! 1TDC is absorbed into the gums, where it provides the periodontal benefits. It also keeps your cat’s joints, muscles and skin and coat healthy. It actually improved Allegra’s gingivitis – at Allegra’s check up in September, our vet found that her gums looked better than last year and that there is less evidence of gingivitis.
