A Message from Leader Dogs for the Blind President & CEO and Board Chair

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” These are the compelling words spoken by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. more than 50 years ago. Sadly, we are reminded again by the recent death of George Floyd and by similar events that haunt our past of the “threats to justice everywhere” as spoken by Dr. King.  We believe racism must be addressed more openly and ardently by all of us to ensure freedom, opportunity and equality for every single American.

At Leader Dog, we do not take lightly our core values of doing what is right and showing respect and compassion to every person. These behaviors are deeply rooted in who we are and critical to our identity as individual team members and as an organization. As such, we stand for elimination of the racism and discrimination that have plagued our black community.

We commit to working for positive change and the betterment of our community by listening, reflecting and learning. Now is the time for action, and we will begin by engaging in conversations with all our constituent groups: team members, clients, volunteers and our community to identify concrete ways in which we can ensure we are providing opportunities for every person in order to help eradicate racism and discrimination.  We look forward to sharing more about our work and our plans in the near future.

As we come together to make people who are blind unstoppable, we can come together to make all Americans unstoppable.

President and CEO Sue Daniels and Board Chair Steve Guarini
