Hello, everyone. This is Lexy checking in with our latest “Top Five” post. Today we’re celebrating Cat World Domination Day with our good pal, Summer. Lola and I put our heads together and decided in honor of today we would put together a list of why cats are great pets.

I present you with our top five reasons cats are great pets!

Cats are Perfect Pets for Small Spaces

If a person lives in an apartment or condo, cats are the purrfect pet for them. Here’s why: 

• We don’t take up a lot of room and we can take advantage of vertical space. It’s very easy to make a small space enriched for us to make us comfortable and happy.
• We’re very quiet and won’t disturb your neighbors. Sure, we may get the zoomies from time to time, but overall we’re very quiet pets and you may not even know we’re there.
• Because we use our litter box, we don’t need to be walked. That means you won’t have to walk up and down multiple flights of steps to walk us, or wait for the elevator in a large building (that are often crowded!)

Cats are Very Clean

In case you haven’t noticed, cats groom themselves frequently. We’re very clean! Of course we need to be brushed and need regular nail clippings, but chances are you’ll never have to give us a bath. And Lola says we’ll never stink up your bed or your couch.

Cats are Very Photogenic

Let’s be honest here for a second … what would your Instagram feed be without your cat’s photos? We have a variety of facial expressions, our personalities shine in photos, we’re always doing something cute, and we’re just adorable. How many photos of your cat do you have on your phone? I rest my case.

We Keep Your House Pest Free

Cats are natural hunters, and just because we live indoors doesn’t mean those instincts are gone. Mouse got in the house? Don’t worry, we’re on it. We don’t get mice in our apartment, but we do get water bugs (much to Mother’s dismay.) Lola and I are always on high alert and make sure we protect Mother when one gets in. Lola will chase the bug all night if she has to! Our scent alone just keeps rodents away. I mean, what rodent would want to get in a cat fight with a feline? 

Just a side note – please don’t let your cat eat anything they catch; you never know if it’s poisoned or could be poisonous to your cat.

Cats are Good for Your Health

Research says “The presence of pets has been associated with a reduction of stress and blood pressure and therefore may reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.” Our purrs are healing, and the frequency of the vibrations have been known to have positive effects on injuries. 

Don't worry, Mommy. My purrs will heal your hand! 

Cats also have a positive effect on your mental health, too. We are emotional support during difficult times, and we’re companionship during lonely times. I could go on and on with this topic, which I just may do in a future post!
