Some of the Nicest Kids Ever

I went to the children’s hospital today and met some of the nicest kids ever! We started in the lobby like we always do, and several children were really excited to see me. One boy in a wheelchair even wanted to try and walk me on my leash. That would have been an interesting experience, except he got called for his appointment just then. One little girl was scared of me. Usually there are one or two kids that are because they just don’t understand. So my human made sure we kept our distance. We went to the exam rooms at the same time as the scared girl, so my human noted which room she was in so we didn’t bother her.

I sat with a boy in one exam room and made happy paws on the brown paper covering the exam table. Meanwhile his mother talked about their move across country. They had to leave their cat in the town they left, but his new human kept in touch to let them know how he was doing. In one room, the dad was reluctant about my visiting, but the kids were so excited he said it was okay. It turned out that he was allergic. My human reminded his kids that they should wash their hands before touching their dad again. Of course, they went over and waved their hands at him, but they were just teasing. In another room, there was a boy on crutches and a girl with her arm in a cast. They were both very nice.

Back in the lobby, there was a very sweet little girl with stumps for legs who was wearing a princess crown. She wanted to see me, so she got up out of her chair and just walked over. She had no problem getting around with her little legs. An older girl visited with me and asked my human some questions about me.

Upstairs in Pre Op, the patients were all gone, but the nurses and staff had lots of fun visiting with me. Our last stop was in the Rehab waiting room. There was just one little girl there with her mother, and she remembered me from one of my previous visits. So it was like meeting with an old friend.

All the kids were good, and none of them handled me roughly. They all seemed to already know to be gentle with me, which was a relief for my human. I love it when visits go this well!
