Dog-Friendly Twin Cities Weekend: Whisker Whirl, Corgi Fest, and More
This is totally *not* a threat, but your dog asked us to remind you that when he’s bored, there are some things he might do to pass the time, like chase his tail. Or dig a hole. Or get into the garbage. Or see what your new sneakers taste like. At the very least, he will find you, and he will lick you. Okay, actually this is a threat. You’ve been warned!
Whisker Whirl @ Minneapolis Convention Center (6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, February 22) Your high-class pooch staying home while other TC doggos enjoy a classy gala? Prepawsterous! Put on your finest for an evening of craft cocktails, fancy dinner, and auctions to benefit Animal Humane Society. (Or you’ll never hear the end of it.)
Midwest Corgi Fest @ Boom Island Brewing Company (12 to 11 p.m. Saturday, February 22; 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, February 23) You’re corgially invited to celebrate the magnificent species that is the potato dog. This is two full days of stumpy-tail shenanigans: Corgi racing, Corgi painting, celebrity Corgis, Corgi trivia, Corgi yoga, and even a Corgi twerking contest. (Enough said!) Bring your Brewery Pass for a free pint and try to resist patting all the chubby buns.
S’up Pup @ The Pottery Place (1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, February 23) Yes, this red carpet social event for puppers is way out in beautiful Red Wing. However, we’re willing to bet a certain *someone* won’t be opposed to a C-A-R R-I-D-E, especially when there’s an Oscar pawty with homemade pie involved. Add Fair Trade Books and Red Wing Dog Park to the agendog to make it a full-day adventure!
Plus, an anytime outing:
Diamonds Coffee Shoppe (7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays) Why should your little bean have to wait outside while you grab a latte? Starbarks isn’t the only place that can make a puppuccino, and this Arts District gem is way more fun anyway. Pro tip: They’ve got a great selection of books to sniff down and will let you take one home to enjoy (also a good place to donate your unwanted novels).
Want to spread the woof about your pupcoming event? Submit it here and we’ll make sure everybody and their dog knows about it.
