An extra February day only comes around once every four years, so mutt as well make the most of it! Leap into a dog-friendly Denver weekend filled with the outdoors, new adventures, and quality time with your furry number one.
Leap Day 5K @ Carpenter Park (10 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, February 29) Get your leap on, literally – there are hay bales to jump over throughout this 5 course, and you can compete for the highest standing long leap and longest vertical leap. If you go hard enough, your doggo might actually burn off enough energy to be chill at brunch after (JK we know she’s a total maniac).
Arvada WinterFest @ Paws ‘n’ Play (11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, February 29) Your furkid’s been lookin’ for an excuse to wear his ugly sweater one more time before patio season, so here’s his chance to rock it and win a prize, all fur a good cause. After his victory, fetch some food truck noms and sniff out ice sculptures, fire dancers, or that ninja demo class. Obvs your guard dog is already a master, but you could learn a thing or two.
Recreational Swimming @ Canine & Conditioning Rehabilitation Group (8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday) Is your pupper part fish? Let her doggy paddle to her heart’s content during open swim at one of Canine & Conditioning’s public, heated dog pools (two locations: Englewood and Broomfield).
