Mews and Nips: Leap Year Kitties

leap-year-kitties

Do you have a cat who was either born or adopted on February 29? If so, then technically, you only celebrate his or her birthday or “gotcha day” every four years. And while all cats are special, maybe leap year kitties extra special? According to astrology, people born on February 29 have unusual talents and personalities. They are said to be good-natured, outgoing and friendly. They are optimists who see the positive side of any issue and are loyal friends. They are said to have a magical “sixth sense” about the world. I wonder whether that also extends to leap year kitties?

And maybe leap year kitties also serve to remind us that leap years come with a precious gift. After all, how many times a day do you find yourself saying “if only I had more time?” Well, every four years, you actually get that extra time. And it’s up to you how you spend it. What will you do with your extra day?

If you missed any of the stories featured on the Conscious Cat this week, here’s a recap: on Monday, we featured a comprehensive article about feline cognitive dysfunction syndrome, on Tuesday, we told you about an innovative litter box for arthritic cats, on Wednesday, I launched a four-part series in which I share my experience caring for Ruby during the last few months and weeks of her life, on Thursday, we featured adorable cat mugs, and on Friday, I reviewed Gwen Cooper’s short story For Whom the Cat Yowls.

The kitty in today’s video is proof that cats are ever so helpful when it comes to assisting us with keeping our bathroom supplies organized – enjoy!

Have a great weekend! What will you do with your extra 24 hours?
