Meow Meeting in Chicago

I had such an amazing time at Meow MeetUp in Chicago! I was at the MeetUp the whole time, even though I only needed to be there for my hour-long Meet and Greets. But my human had a vending table for her books, cards and magnets, and she didn’t want to leave her booth to fetch me at the hotel. So I stayed at the booth during the show both days.

She didn’t have a lot of things to sell. Which was good for me, since it meant there was space (just barely) on the table for my enclosure. I slept a lot and conserved my energy for the Meet and Greets, but occasionally I got to visit with friends, fans, and new people who stopped by the booth. She actually sold a lot the first day — she sold out of both volumes of the Rescued series that she brought, and the two remaining copies of the first Dear Sparkle book. Plus some magnets and cards.

The Meet and Greet sign for Summer

When my human bundled me up and brought me to the Meet and Greet room, we were met by this huge sign announcing me — and a line of people waiting to meet me!

My human gave me a quick groom while the Meow MeetUp staff fawned over me. That was pretty cool! I did some tricks for them too.

The way the Meet and Greet worked was, I sat in a chair with this backdrop and the staff moved people through to sit and visit with me and take photos. It went on for an hour. I met lots of really nice people, including friends I only knew from Instagram. It was actually pretty fun! But both my human and I were really tired by the end of the day.

The next morning, we got to the exhibition hall a little early. I thought maybe I could explore before the show opened for the public, so my human walked me on my leash. But we never got farther than the aisle behind us! Can you figure out why?

Yep, I had too many vendors coming up, wanting to pet me! I think my human may have been a little disappointed she didn’t get to see more, but I was really happy visiting with everyone.

Sunday was my human’s birthday. Her cat blogging friends took her out for dinner the night before, and a couple of friends from social media showed up with cards for her — and one showed up with a catnip rainbow for me too! That was awesome!

We had one more Meet and Greet at the end of the day. The first day, I was a little confused about what was going on, but the second day, I totally got it, and didn’t try to wander off as much as I did by the end of the day before! Plus my blogging pals came to see me too. I had such a great time meeting everyone. My saying (and this really is my saying) is, “Strangers are just friends you haven’t met yet.” I hope lots of you take this to heart because it always works for me!
