Remembering Ruby: That Time When Ruby Unplugged the Computer

As I’m mourning my beautiful little girl, the memories keep flooding in. It’s still bittersweet to remember her, and I miss her terribly every day. But “talking” about her helps, and I thought you might enjoy taking a few trips down memory lane with me. “Remembering Ruby” won’t be a regular series, but I will share memories as I feel moved to do so.

The photo at the top of the post shows one of her first forays onto my desk, it was taken a few days after she joined our family. Today’s memory goes back to October of 2011. Ruby had been with us for about six months then, so that would have made her about 15 months old.

She loved being in my lap while I was working. She was a good office assistant and took her duties very seriously. But she could also be rather rambunctious, and when she got bored with sitting on my lap, she would explore my desk.

“There was a big fat blue cable hanging halfway down to the floor from the desk. It looked like it was put there just for me. My own personal kitty jungle gym! I just knew it would be great fun to try and dangle from it!

It was fun. For about ten seconds. …”

Read Ruby’s Reflections: Ruby and the Computer Cable for the rest of the story.
