Dog-Friendly Chicago Weekend: Swim Party, Sunday Funday, & More

Is the cold weather giving your dog an extra bout of the zoomies? Leash up and chauf-fur your pup to some of these fun events happening in Chicago this weekend!

Open House at Companion Wicker Park (2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, January 18) A party at the V-E-T? Your pup would never expect it! Take a tour of Companion Wicker Park’s new, state-of-the-art facility while your dog poses for their caricature (3 to 5 p.m.), monches on snackies, and enters some raffles for fun dog goodies. We promise no shots this time, just plenty of pets, treats and sweet doggy boops.

Splash Into The New Year (3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, January 18) Is your water dog missing the dog beach? We’ve got a long Chicago winter before beach season, but let’s pretend they’re back in Lake Michigan at Real Dog Moms of Chicago’s first indoor swim of 2020 at Doggy Paddle! All puppers are welcome to get their pool pawty on but will be scheduled to swim with pals of similar sizes to make sure there’s fun splashes only. $25 includes a 30-minute swim and a BYOB pizza party for humans. Plus, if your pup’s still revving to go after a swim, he’s welcome to play at the indoor park for as long as he wants!

Sunday Funday at Begyle (11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 19) Send those Sunday scaries packin’ at Begyle Brewing’s Sunday Funday! There’ll be skeeball and brunch bites for you and your pup to share from The Biscuit Man (1 to 5 p.m.) while you sip some Begyle beer. Dogs are only allowed downstairs in the taproom (but your pup won’t mind, since that’s where the food is).

BFF 2: A Group Exhibit of Friends 13 Years Later (10 a.m. to 6 p.m on weekends) Take your art connoisseur to check out this unique art exhibit of 10 different artists at the dog-friendly, Rotofugi. Plus, Rotofugi is a designer toy, art and pop culture store, so maybe Pawcasso will treat *you* to a new toy for once!

Bonus! Cycle for Churchill Dog Park (1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 18) Maintaining your dog’s favorite dog park ain’t cheap and apparently Fido’s forgot to pay his dues this quarter. Help fundraise for Churchill Dog Park by taking a spin at Flywheel Sports. While your pup’s gotta stay home for this one, make it up to him by taking him for a zoom at Churchill Dog Park after class; you’ll get to look at the park with the satisfaction of knowing you helped it look this good. It’s a $40 donation in advance or $50 at the door if space is available.

What other pawesome events are on your agendog this weekend? Tell us in the comments, and don’t forget to submit all of your pup-centric events to our calendar. Happy adventuring!
