Dog-Friendly Chicago Weekend: Cheese Boards, Barkin’ Brunch, & More

The snow may be coming down in Chicago but your fun is about to be on the pup and up. There’s plenty to do for you and your dog this weekend to keep those winter blues away!

The Martin Marketplace (12 to 4 p.m., Saturday, January 25) A little re-tail therapy’s great on a snowy day and your little shopawholic is *all* about buying local this year. Your pup will love sniffing out what Chicago’s best makers have to offer at this pro-pup monthly market. Don’t furget to RSVP for a free drink!

Barks and Brews Adoption Event (1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, January 25) Midwest Coast Brewing Company is one of the city’s newest dog-friendly breweries, and it’s hosting an afternoon all about the dogs. There’ll be vendors, raffles, and beer for you, and food trucks for you and your #1. Does your pup want a fur-sib? K9 For Keeps will be there with adoptables.

Cheese Maven Pop-Up (4 to 8 p.m., Saturday, January 25) Your pup won’t be able to stop cheesin’ at this charcuterie heaven! Come to Empirical Brewery’s dog-friendly taproom and enjoy made-to-order cheese boards for $10 by Joanna, the Cheese Maven. There’ll be meat add-ons and beer flights, too. Your dog may have forgotten his wallet *again* but he promises he’ll be extra gouda if you get him his own board.

Shelter Shiver (10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, January 26) Channel your inner water dog and jump into Lake Michigan to raise bones for Alive Rescue! You can take a full plunge or go ankle deep (or be on the couch with your pup as a virtual participant) but your $25 registration fee gets you a goodie bag and will help Alive save a lot more dogs this year. This event is dog-friendly, but you may want a puppysitter for your dog while you’re in the water!

Barkin’ Brunch (12 to 3 p.m., Sunday, January 26) Canine Crews is turning 70 in dog years (10 in human years) and that’s pretty doggone old! They’re buddying up with Real Dog Moms of Chicago to throw one heckuva bash. If your pup is tired of freezing his tail off at the dog park, three hours of indoor play’s gonna sound like a dream. Once he gets his zoomies out, there’ll also be raffles, a photobooth, and a dog ice cream eating contest. It’s $10 to get in and all the bones will be donated to CRISP.
