Plan a Staycation at These Dog-Friendly Colorado Hotels

From quaint mountain towns to buzzy city life, Colorado is brimming with options when you’re craving a quick getaway—and in such a dog-friendly state, you rarely have to leave your furry companion behind. It’s pretty easy to find accommodations that will welcome Fido with open paws, but if you want your pup to be treated like a star guest, start your staycation search here. From spa services to complimentary treats, these hotels go above and beyond to make sure you have a barking-good time.

The Little Nell
While you hit the slopes, your pup will be snuggling up in the lap of luxury at The Little Nell in Aspen. Four-legged guests are treated like VIPs by the staff, who are happy to take them for a stroll before delivering a special meal of carrots, brown rice, and scrambled eggs with ground beef, chicken breast, or salmon to the room. A Puppy Jet Lag Kit comes with a doggie bed for your pup to snooze off the food coma and a branded leash to take home as a souvenir.

The Stanley
Perhaps most famous for inspiring Stephen King’s The Shining (or starring as a film location for Dumb and Dumber, depending on your preferred genre), this hotel in Estes Park is an easy weekend escape only 1.5 hours from Denver. Before setting off to climb nearby Crosier Mountain, snag some homemade peanut butter and banana dog biscuits from the lobby—perfect hiking fuel for your furry companion. The historic boutique hotel also provides plush dog beds and bowls for food and water, so the only thing you have to worry about is a potentially haunted room.

Hotel Teatro
If you and your dog are more cosmopolitan than outdoorsy, book a #SelfCareStaycation at Hotel Teatro. Often called Denver’s most dog-friendly hotel, the staff is known to arrange “pawdicures” and canine massages for their furry guests. The hotel also hosts occasional events, such as puppy brunch and family portraits, to benefit local rescue organizations. Best of all, there are no weight or breed restrictions, and all dogs stay free!

Hotel Monaco
Part of the nationwide Kimpton brand, Hotel Monaco in Denver is a home away from home for you and your dog. Beds, food and water bowls, and mats are provided free of charge, along with a list of nearby pooch-friendly establishments and door hangers that alert staff of your furry roommate. Got a social butterfly on your hands? Pups are welcome to the nightly wine reception.

The Lodge at Breckenridge
When you arrive at The Lodge at Breckenridge, you might be greeted by Dagen, the chocolate lab who serves as Director of Pet Relations. Book with the hotel’s Happy Hound package to receive a doggy bowl, placemat, and treat on arrival—in addition to a special callout on its “Dogs In House” board at the front desk.
