About My Global Handwashing Day Gig

Note: While I was paid for doing social media posts for the brand, this blog post was not part of it, and I received no extra compensation for this post.

Summer got a gig for Global Handwashing Day, and she takes you through the fun but really unnecessary photo shoot.

I belong to a couple of different websites that connect influencers with brands. A week or so ago, one posted a social media-only offer for Global Handwashing Day, which is October 15. For a lark, my human pitched them, since kitties are so good with washing their paws, right? Well, the brand took her up on her pitch!

The brand already had “assets” (photos and copy for the posts). But of course, being a kitty, I had to do something a little different. So we set up a photo session in the master bathroom. My human even ran down to the store and spent three bucks to get the product.

With a light set up in the bathroom, and the natural light coming in through the frosted window, the set looked pretty nice! My human had to make sure the mirror was clean. I had to make sure I looked good.

My human did a bunch of things to make sure I didn’t get bored. That included turning on the sink faucet just a little bit.

The big challenge was getting me to wash my paw for photos. My human suggested it in her pitch, so she felt she had to get at least one good shot of me doing it. But no matter what my human put on my paw — cheese, treats, juice from a deli turkey package — I didn’t do it for the longest time. And when I finally did, the photos all looked a bit awkward, or my tongue didn’t show. This was the best one.

Of course, I got lots of treats along the way.

And we did get a lot of glamor shots of me with the product. Because they already had the assets for the influencers, it didn’t pay much. But we had so much fun putting in all the extra work that it really didn’t matter.
