We all know that cats have the ability to change our lives and help us through our darkest days. In Moon Diamonds: A Siamese Cat Story, Madeleine Purslow shares the story of an aging actress whose world is shrinking. Little does she know that her two Siamese cats will change her life just when she thinks things couldn’t get any worse.
From the back of the book:
When actress Monica Pinto finds her memory is beginning to fail, she is forced to go in search of a new way of life. After years of being on stage, her world suddenly becomes a lot smaller. What Monica doesn’t expect is just how much her life is about to change because of her love for Siamese cats.
The book addresses issues of aging and health, losing a loved one, and the joys and problems of a multi-cat household with great sensitivity. The characters are likeable, although I would have liked to have seen them developed in a bit more depth. The two Siamese cats are a delight, and you will find yourself smiling and nodding as you recognize your own cats in them, whether they are Siamese or not.
Sometimes poignant, sometimes humorous, this is a quick read for cat lovers.
