Give a Cat From Tabby's Place Their Forever Home -#RememberMeThursday 2019
When someone adopts a pet from a shelter, they are actually saving two lives; the life of the pet they adopted, and the pet there is now space for in the shelter. Adopting saves lives! I've written several posts about Remember Me Thursday, which you can catch up on here.

Today I'm shining a light on cats who are waiting for their forever homes at Tabby's Place, a cage-free, no-kill sanctuary in Ringoes, NJ. I've been supporting Tabby's Place since 2011 when I visited for the first time and fell in love. For more information about Tabby's you can visit their website or catch up on my previous posts here. Today is all about the cats, so without further ado, let's meet eight cats patiently awaiting their forever homes.
Tabby's Place Cats on #RememberMeThursday
Divya
Divya has long been known as our reception cat. She spends most of her day sitting or napping on the reception desk in the lobby of Tabby’s Place. She never misses a meal and is always waiting to greet her morning feeders. Divya does not like to be handled, but she does enjoy gentle head pets (on her terms). She is not particularly fond of other cats but puts up with them as long as they leave her alone. She is a social eater and insists on having a human hold her food tray for her while she eats breakfast. When Divya arrived at Tabby’s Place in 2014, the medical team wasn’t sure that she would make it. When her person passed away, the surviving family didn’t want to care for her so they simply put her outside. Divya didn’t know how to fend for herself and began to starve. Today Divya in a full-figured female kitty of about 10 years of age. She would love to have a person to once again call her own and share mealtime with. (Divya is one of my long-time favorite cats at Tabby's and I always look for her when I visit.)Snoop
Snoop came to Tabby’s Place in April of 2018 as an older neutered male who weighed in at over 20lbs. He’s always been a friendly guy who frequently curls up on visitor laps. He likes to be the center of attention which is challenging in the weight management suite that has quite a few big personalities. Since he began his carefully managed diet, Snoop has lost about 5 pounds. He seems to be the frequent recipient of injuries from cat fights in his suite. Our volunteers insist that he is being bullied and is not the instigator. He would certainly do best as an only cat. At an estimated 14 years, he is overlooked by most adopters.Hunts
Hunts came to Tabby’s Place through one of our TNR projects. As a three month old kitten, Hunts was underweight and not well socialized. As he was nursed to full health, we saw potential in him. Now as a young adult, Hunts is still people shy, but he LOVES other cats. He has an old soul and seems to bond best with older mature cats. From them he has learned to appreciate the attention that humans can give. Hunts will never enjoy being picked up and cuddled, but he loves to snuggle with other kitties and would make a great addition to a home with human patience.Candace
Candace currently holds the title of heaviest cat at Tabby’s Place. She can be sweet and affectionate when she chooses, but she has a feisty side. She does not particularly like other felines so was removed from the weight management suite and moved to the lounge of Tabby’s. Here she is one of only 5 cats. Despite numerous attempts at dietary adjustment and regulation, Candace does not lose weight. She has lived at Tabby’s Place for about three years. She is all black with white whiskers.Oscar
Oscar was rescued by a Good Samaritan who was unable to integrate him into her household because he tested positive for FIV. She visits him at least once a month and Oscar’s true sweetness is evident during those visits. He loves her and he has come to love some of us. Oscar is particular about who he will love and trust. It takes time, but once he trusts you, he is a devoted friend. Oscar enjoys the company of other cats like himself—those that aren’t too pushy but desire a friend with which to pass the hours. Because Oscar is nervous around some, he is difficult to show to potential adopters. He has a perfectly healthy but wonky eye that makes him always appear to be giving you a sideways glance.Heather
Heather was adopted as a young cat in the early days of Tabby’s Place. When her devoted person fell on hard times, Heather came back to us. She is a beautiful dilute tortie who spends her days in a soft bed behind the monitor of our Development Director. She comes out at night when she thinks no one is watching. She enjoys being pet but is very nervous and shy. She is quiet but will purr when she feels comfortable.Sammy
Sammy is only seven, but she was born with a congenital defect—she has a small hole in her heart. So far this does not seem to be causing any issues for her, but she does require an echocardiogram once a year to make sure that nothing is amiss. She is a shy girl who does not like to be handled, but enjoys pets from those individuals that she chooses to trust. Every now and then, a stranger comes into the room and Sammy makes it clear that this is someone to trust. Sammy is also polydactyl so she has extra toes on all four of her feet.Dracula
She is not at all scary in spite of her name, but she is shy around new people so gets overlooked when potential adopters come to visit. Dracula is a beautiful, black kitty. She, unlike many of her suite mates, is in the room for the urinary diet not for weight management. She is in fact quite small and very playful. She loves mornings when the other kitties receive their meds and she can help the staff keep things in order. Dracula has a history of urinary crystals so needs to be on a special diet. No medication required! If you're interested in adopting any of these beautiful cats, you can fill out the online application, or visit the sanctuary. Their visiting hours are from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm seven days a week. (Tell them Lola The Rescued Cat sent you!)
