How the Assisi Loop Helps Roosevelt Maintain Mobility and Quality of Life

15-year-old Roosevelt belongs to Dr. Beth Innis, the founder and owner of Sleepy Dog Vet in Arlington, MA. She is certified in veterinary acupuncture, veterinary chiropractic, veterinary Chinese herbal medicine, canine rehabilitation and currently studying Western herbal medicine.
Roosevelt’s treatment
In October of last year, Roosevelt started having a hard time jumping on higher surfaces, and he had some atrophy in his hind end. Dr. Innis diagnosed him with vertebral malformations and likely IVDD (intervertebral disk degeneration) in his lower lumbar spine. She started treating him with supplements and other alternative medicines such as acupuncture and chiropractic.
Dr. Innis also used the Assisi Loop. “At first, we did it daily,” she said. “Now, we do it more occasionally. We find that he tolerates it best after having his evening meal, getting some pet time and having one of us sit next to him on the couch.” Treatments took 15 minutes or “for as long as he would tolerate it.” She noticed that Roosevelt was more mobile in general. “He moved around the house more and jumped with grace.”
In addition to Loop treatments, acupuncture and chiropractic, Roosevelt also received supplements (Standard Process Renal and Cardiac Support, and Rehmannia 8 by Kan Herbs) to support his heart and kidneys (he has heart disease and chronic kidney disease.)
How the Assisi Loop Works
The Assisi Loop, created by Assisi Animal Health, is a non-pharmaceutical, non-invasive device provides targeted pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (tPEMF™). tPEMF, which was first studied in the 1970s and is FDA-cleared for use in humans, uses low-level pulses of electromagnetic energy to stimulate the body’s own healing mechanisms to help relieve pain and swelling. This therapy can benefits cats with pain associated with arthritis, pancreatitis, wounds, or post-surgical swelling as well as many inflammatory conditions. The Loop is well tolerated by most cats. In fact, many cats really enjoy receiving Loop treatments. Because the Loop stimulates the body’s own healing process, rather than introducing a new substance (like a medication), even a sensitive cat body can handle it easily.
Also available: the Assisi Loop Lounge
Featuring the same pain control of the Loop via targeted pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (tPEMF™,) the Loop Lounge™ is the only therapeutic pet bed backed by scientific research. Click here to read more about the Assisi Loop Lounge.
