Mews and Nips: Cat Who Survived Camp Fire Reunited With His Family

The devastating wildfires in California are no longer at the top of the news cycle, but the people and animals affected by them will be dealing with the effects for a very long time. Countless animals are still waiting to be reunited with their humans, while others are adjusting to being in unfamiliar environments after losing their homes. Grey tabby Mason was one of the lucky ones who has been reunited with his family. Mason busted out of his carrier when he was startled by the noise of a propane tank exploding just as his family was evacuating. They saw his photo on UC Davis‘ social media feed. Visit The Dodo for the story of this beautiful reunion. For information on how to help the victims of the Camp Fire, click here.

If you missed any of the stories featured on the Conscious Cat this week, here’s a recap: on Monday, we told you why food flexibility is important for cats, on Tuesday, we featured adorable cat ornaments from KittyCat Art Studio, on Wednesday, we shared a wonderful video about Freddie Mercury’s cats, on Thursday, we introduced you to CatScapes, a fantastic modular shelf system, and  on Friday, we reviewed Dean Russo: A Retrospective. And don’t forget to enter our giveaway for a pair of wool Cat Paw Gloves from Triple T Studios!

Today’s video is so silly it’s bound to make you smile: our friend Chris, Cole and Marmalade’s dad, recreated the iconic scene from The Lion King with Marmalade. And if you look closely, you can see one of Cole and Marmalade’s new tortie sisters in the video.

Have a great weekend!
