2018 Cat Book of the Year
I don’t keep track of the number of books I read each year, but my best guess is somewhere between 150 and 200, and at least half of them have something to do with cats. I review books here on The Conscious Cat almost every week. Last Friday, I featured my Top 10 Cat Books of 2018, and today, I’m announcing my pick for Best Cat Book of 2018.
Weather Menders
I’m not a big fan of Sci-Fi, and I rarely read Fantasy, so I wasn’t sure whether I would like Weather Menders, a Cli-Fi novel novel about reversing climate change through time travel, featuring a time-traveling cat. I had never even heard the term “Cli-Fi” until I received a copy of this book. Abbreviated from Climate Fiction, this genre deals with climate change and global warming. Works of cli-fi may take place in the world as we know it or in the near future.
Not only did Weather Menders get me interested in the genre, the book completely blew me away. There are so many layers to this book: time travel, suspense, romance, and so much more.
I could not put this book down, and at the same time, I didn’t want it to end. The story is incredible, the writing is luminant, and the depth of the material is breathtaking. Even if this is completely outside of the range of what you normally read, give this book a chance. You won’t be disappointed.
