5 Seattle Holiday Errands You Can Run With Your Dog

Four-legged retail therapist at work.

‘Tis the season fur shop ‘til you drop! And while (let’s be honest) most of us are doing it from a laptop in our jammies, every now and then we wanna throw on our cutest hat/scarf combo and go shopping IRL. And since you and your pupper are a package deal, here’s where to shop together.

Farmers markets. Some of the best noms in town come from weekend farmers markets like the Ballard Sunday Farmers Market, Fremont Sunday Market, and University District Farmers Market. Leashed dogs are welcome to meander the stalls, so grab ingredients for your holiday meal, locally sourced gifts for friends and family (or for treating yo’self). Check the sites for holiday hours before you head out. Be on the lookout for the Porter’s Pride stall at the Ballard Sunday Market. Their gluten-free, locally sourced goodies are hipster parent and pet approved (this is Seattle, after all).

Garden centers. Whether you’re a garland guru or just trying to impress your visiting mother-in-law, Magnolia Garden Center is one of the best-smelling (read: pup-pleasing-est) spots in town to shop with your pup. Disclaimer: It’s doggone gorgeous and you’ll leave with wreaths, poinsettias, and every single holiday trimming you could possibly ever need. (Note: Holiday plants, including some poinsettias, are toxic to dogs. Here’s how to keep your pup safe this holiday season.)

Spas. ‘Tis also the season of holiday parties, so you gotta look your puppin’ best! Thankfully, Sugar Plum Spa lets you bring your well-behaved pooch in while you get dolled up. They might even score impromptu belly rubs on the house.

Tree farms. Pups are experts at sniffing out the pawfect family Christmas tree. Trinity Tree Farm in Issaquah welcomes them and also serves up free hot cocoa, train rides for kids, and a vintage fire engine for photo ops. Just make sure Fido has emptied his bladder before visiting – can you image marking every…single…tree…

Retail. Four-legged personal shoppers are welcome at Nordstrom & Nordstrom Rack stores, and Bed Bath & Beyond stores even have special doggy carts for ‘em to ride along.
