4 Ways to Give Back to Colorado Dogs This Howliday Season
“Oh hai, we’re here for the snuggles.”
Dogs are our best friends, our family members, our fur babies. It may be impawsible to fully repay pups for the endless amount of joy they bring to our lives (because, let’s face it, they are the goodest boys and girls), but we can sure as heck try to return the favor! From shopping to drinking beer, here are four ways to give back to Colorado canines this howliday season. As the Eels band once sang, “Christmas is going to the dogs.”
Donate food. Lend a helping paw by donating a bag of dog food to Colorado Pet Pantry, a pet food bank for families in need. Check out the nonprofit’s website to find the nearest donation drop-off location, or set up a food drive of your own. Thanks to CPP, more than 13,000 pets were fed in 2017.
Bid ‘til you drop. Get your Christmas shopping done while giving back to your four-legged friends by bidding on lots in Animal Rescue of the Rockies’ online auction. There are great deals on everything from jewelry to greeting cards to salon services, and 100 percent of proceeds benefit homeless dogs and cats.
Snuggle a car-load of puppies. From December 17 to 19, the Humane Society of Boulder Valley is hosting Random Acts of Cuteness. For a $399 donation, a Subaru full of shelter puppies will arrive at your door for 30 minutes of snuggling, cuddling, and playtime. Gather some friends or colleagues to chip in for the donation, which will sponsor the care of one shelter pet.
Drink beer. Fur real! During Yappy Hour at Comrade Brewing on December 20, a portion of beer sales will benefit homeless pets at the Dumb Friends League. Santa will also be on tap for photos with your pooch, and you can enter a trivia contest to win a holiday-themed dog basket.
