Dog-Friendly Twin Cities Weekend: Pop-Up Indoor Dog Park, Hops and Hounds at St. Paul Winter Carnival, and More
Good bois ‘n gurls just wanna have fun, and luckily there’s plenty to be had this weekend, my furiends! Between the outdoor adventures and indoor hangs, you’re sure to find something both you and your pooch will enjoy. (As if you have a say.)
Lake Harriet Winter Kite Festival @ Lake Harriet Park (12 to 4 p.m., Saturday, January 25) Your whole pack will be delighted to watch as kites of all shapes, sizes, colors, and themes fly over frozen Lake Harriet. Hoomans can also learn how to ice fish, snowshoe, or ride a fat tire bike in the snow while doggos collect belly rubs and supervise the marshmallow roast. (He likes them lightly browned, not burned, Karen.)
Hops and Hounds @ St. Paul Winter Carnival (10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, January 29) Bundle up for a day of doggy-inspired events at Rice Park! We’re talkin’ contests, vendors, live entertainment, doga, and even a celebrity appearance from Sergeant Fuzz, a therapy woofer with the St. Paul Police Community Engagement Unit. With 20 local craft beers on tap and your pup’s coziest sweater, you guys shouldn’t have a problem staying warm.
Pop-Up Indoor Dog Park @ Minneapolis Cider Company (1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, January 26) Woof on the street is that short walks in the freezing cold are fur peasants. Minneapolis Cider Company is offering up 4,000 square feet for puppos to run and play. Let the furkid royalty get their crazies out while you knock back a cider or sip one of MCC’s exclusive Royale Cocktails.
Sisyphus Brewing (12 p.m. to midnight Saturdays, 1 to 6 p.m. Sundays) If you just canine even decide what to do this weekend, pull up a chair and plop down at Sisyphus. Not only is the taproom on your Brewery Pass, it also raises bones for No Dog Left Behind on the reg, so go on and make that a *double* water bowl (it’s for a good cause).
