Spider Trick (With Treats)
This is how things usually start on the set. My human calls me if she can’t find me right away, and eventually I make my way down to my studio. Usually she is still setting things up, so I plop down on the backdrop and wait for her. This time there was something in the background.
It was some stupid old Halloween spider she dug out from a pile of stuff that she is probably going to toss out. But she decided to have me pose with it. As you can see, it wasn’t making for a very interesting photo shoot.
There was nothing that could be done to make a photograph with this spider look interesting. But my human actually had a plan.
Since I am pretty good about ringing my bell, she is trying to use a similar command to get me to touch other props. As you can see, I was not particularly interested in touching the dumb spider.
So she took the spider away and gave me my bell to ring a few times. That I had no problem doing. Then when she brought the spider back, it all clicked!
Ta-da! I touched the spider! I actually touched it several times, but this was the only one my human got in focus because she was being sloppy. Maybe I shouldn’t bust her like that, but I will say it was pretty smart of her to bring out the bell in the middle of the session.
