Paws in the Park

Puppare yourself for all those treatos you’ll be crunchin’ on this month by pawticipating in this annual dog walk and fall festival. Your 2.5-mile walk will raise bones for Longmont Humane Society. Also on paw: goodies from pet-friendly vendors, human noms, music, and a costume contest for both of you.
Fright Fest Pet Parade Costume Contest
Saturday, October 12
The hardest decision you’ll have to make is which costume contest to enter: funniest, most original, best pet/owner combo? Whichever your pup chooses, she better make it good—last year’s competitors included Olaf and Sven from Frozen, a pirate, and Superman.
Growloween
Saturday, October 19
The peeps from Three Dogs Bakery invite you to “raise the ruff” with them this Halloween. A costume contest kicks off the festivities, followed by trick-or-treating through the Highlands neighborhood.
Howl’oween
Saturday, October 26
Halloween is going to the dogs at Aspen Grove, where pups can trade tricks for treats from pawticipating vendors, hop on a hayride, and snoof out the best pumpkin in the patch, with proceeds benefiting the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley. Come for viewings of Hotel Transylvania or Ghostbusters; stay for a chance to meet the shopping center’s four-legged mascot, Dakota!
Tennyson Street Pet Parade & Costume Contest
Saturday, October 26
Bigger prizes and larger trophies await those who enter this second-annual costume contest, and this year there’s two categories to double your chances: best individual and best group for one or more pets, or humans with one or more pets. The crew from Scooby Doo, an owl and Hogwarts students, a Beauty and a Beast . . . imagine the pawsibilities!
Phantom 4 Miler
Saturday, October 26
Beer for barkfast isn’t a problem when you start the day with a four-mile walk/run at Anheuser-Busch Brewery in Fort Collins. In addition to delicious brews, there will be plenty of ghostly boos when dogs take the stage for the costume contest.
