Adopt Tarragon the Tranquility-Loving Gentleman
Inspired by our founder Ali Jarvis’ “lemon” dog, Luc, this series is dedicated to local, special-needs pups looking for loving homes. This adoptable pooch is scooped up and brought to you by Dog Days in St. Paul and Metro Dogs in the North Loop. See why they’re so grrreat at the end of this story.
Name: Tarragon
Stats: 1-year-old, 36-pound, male Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix
Location: Twin Cities
Rescue: Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue
Sidewalk Dog: Holy pup that coat is glossy! Tell us about Tarragon.
Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue: Tarragon is such a sweetheart, he’ll melt your worries away. He’s housetrained and kennel trained. He’s up for whatever you’re doing, whether it’s snuggling and watching Lifetime movies or taking a walk to make sure all those pesky squirrels are behaving.
SWD: A gentleman at the ready. What are Tarragon’s special needs?
WW: Tarragon was under-socialized before coming into rescue, so he has some fear issues and will bark loudly when he’s afraid. He will need a quiet home in a quiet neighborhood. With training and patience, he has done amazingly well in his foster home over the past 7 months. He needs a forever family who understands it takes time with him to win his heart over.
SWD: OK, so will gib a lifetime of love for one peaceful house. Got it. What else would make the perfect forever home for Tarragon?
WW: He needs a home without cats and that does not have frequent visitors, and a forever family that’ll take him on walks on quiet streets and paths. He should not live with children under 13 because he’s fearful of small children. Finally, he’d love a doggy sibling who’s smaller and submissive to show him the ropes. He loves learning from other pups!

This dog’s story was made possible by some of the pup-loving-est daycares in the Twin Cities: Dog Days in St. Paul and the newly expanded Metro Dogs in the North Loop, which is now accepting new doggos! As one happy customer recently put it, “After working in the pet care industry for 8+ years, this is the only place I trust my pooches to. I’ve never met a more caring, compassionate, on the ball crew in my life. The grooming is incredible, too.” For dog’s sake, give ’em a call today!
