There’s no question that cats love to climb. Vertical space in the form of cat trees and cat shelves is critical to providing an enriched environment for indoor cats. The Cat Ladder addresses this need in a way that’s creative, functional, and beautiful – and most of all, it lends itself to endless possibilities in any home of any size.
About the Cat Ladder
The idea for the Cat Ladder came to creator Joe Koziol when one of their cats couldn’t climb the ladder to their loft. He could see how excited the other cat was, being able to look down on everything from a high vantage point, so he and and longtime friend and business partner Damian Knopf set about creating a crude but functional version of what turned into the Cat Ladder so that both cats could spend time in the loft.
When Joe and Damon began thinking about making these ladders for sale, they knew they didn’t want to make a cheap version. The ladder needed to be stable, and they also believe that there is no reason to cut corners in craftmanship, or that cat parents should have to sacrifice beautiful design for function.
These beautifully designed ladders come in 6 different sizes, from three to eight steps. They come in six different wood finishes and are also available unfinished. You also have a choice of three different carpet colors as well as a sisal covering. The carpet pads attach with velcro strips and can be easily replaced if needed. The steps come in two different widths.
Putting the Cat Ladder to the test
We received two three-step ladders, one in the beautiful new Baltic Birch with wide steps and a mulberry carpet, and one in a gorgeous cherry with regular steps and both grey and sisal carpeting.
Assembly is really simple. I confess that I needed help from a friend, but that’s more due to the fact that I am assembly-challenged than anything else, because it really couldn’t be easier. The rails come with the screws already drilled in, so all you have to do is push the step into the groove, tighten the screw with a screwdriver, attach the second rail, and you’re done! My friend had both ladders put together in less than 10 minutes!
Allegra and Ruby were immediately intrigued with the ladders. I moved them around a few times, and they were fascinated that these new additions to our home kept showing up in new places.
And that’s what I love so much about the Cat Ladder: it offers so much flexibility in terms of placement. We know cats can get easily bored, and changing things up keeps them engaged and interested.
Each ladder is a gorgeous piece of furniture, and since there are so many choices, they will easily blend in with any decorating style.
