How Do You Play With Your Cat? Participate in an International Online Study
Play is vitally important to a cat’s mental and physical health. In addition to providing exercise, which is especially important for indoor cats, play alleviates boredom, provides stress relief, helps prevent and correct behavioral problems, and is a wonderful way for humans and cats to deepen their bond.
Julie Hecht, a PhD candidate in animal behavior at The Graduate Center, City University of New York, is investigating how cat guardians play with their cats, and she needs your help. Project: Play With Your Cat is an international, online, citizen science project that takes place at CatsDoScience.com.
In order to participate in the study, you need to
- be 18 or older,
- play with your cat,
- complete a consent form,
- make and share a short video — between 30 seconds and 2 minutes long — of you and your cat playing together, and
- complete a short questionnaire.
Click here to participate in the study. All submissions need to be received by June 30, 2019.
You can also help by sharing this project on Facebook and Twitter.
