Just Another Fun Day on the Island

Hi guys. So here I was the other day…sitting and watching the goings-on in the ‘hood. When something caught my eye.

Can you see it? It’s probably hard for you to tell because this is a crappy picture…but there was a bird…a mourning dove to be exact…sitting on the corner of the gutter. I sat and watched it for awhile. And then it got up and flew away.

And then guess what I saw.

A nest…with 2 eggs! In the gutter! So now we’ll have baby mourning doves to watch. The gutter’s not the best place to have a nest so I hope those eggs hatch soon.

Then I saw something flying around the window but on the inside. The mom saw it, too. It was a bee or wasp of some sort. Now let me tell you all something. The mom doesn’t like killing bugs and stuff. But she doesn’t want them in our house either because she’s afraid I might try to play with them…and she’s a little bit scared of them, too.

So she caught it in a plastic container and I got a good look at it up close. Yeah, I’m not sure I wanna play with that thing. Flies…yes…wasps…no. The mom took it outside and let it go…to live and sting another day.

It was just another fun day on the island.
