So there I am, taking my sweet time to get to know my surroundings, which are formidable compared to a woodpile, that’s for sure, and I am trying to find my way and mind my own business and, in general, make no ripples in the river (whatever that means), and there is a knock at our door.  I can’t help running downstairs to see what’s up.…
