Kitty Thoughts About This Week’s Events

Here are some kitty thoughts about this week's events in the United States.

This will be my one and only post about the events of the past week because I’m a kitty and I don’t do politics. One important reason why is because I know that I have fans, followers and friends with all sorts of political and religious views. And that’s kind of the point of this post.

No matter who you feel should run the U.S., how it should be run, and how you feel about the way this election has turned out (or is still turning out), I know one thing. You love kitties. If the only thing that mattered was cats, we would all come together so easily and so quickly, the whole world would be shocked and overjoyed. As a cat, I don’t understand why it can’t be that easy, honestly. Maybe we should have been smarter and just let Binga be in charge.

Sadly, humans think that there are lots of other things that are as important as kitties, and they can’t seem to agree on how to deal with these things. It’s always been this way, and I guess it will always be this way. The past four years in the U.S. have been especially divisive. Everybody has different versions of how things have gone, people have made up silly stories, and nobody can talk to the other side with any civility. Their world views are radically different, and they have piled a lot of anger and resentment on top of it, which makes it even worse. And before you blame the other guys, look at yourself and those around you too. And I’m just talking about the normal, cat-loving people, not the people on the far sides of the spectrum. Regular, everyday people.

I’m not going to ask you guys to all get along, because duh, that is not going to happen. But I am going to ask you to always remember what’s important, which is cats. Looking out for our wellbeing. Promoting continued research into our health and care. (That’s how people discovered how cruel declawing is, and found remedies to lots of feline illnesses.) I ask you to always look out for cats in trouble or in need of rescue, and do what you can for them. Do everything you can to improve your relationship with your cats, and cats in general.

That’s all I ask for. And one more thing. When someone is helping you help other cats, and they believe something different than you about politics, let it slide because you are doing something good and wonderful together by looking out for kitties.

Purrs and peace.
