In-Person Volunteer Opportunities for Dogs
1. Puppy Sitting for Summit Assistance Dogs
If your dog is a playful socialite, chances are she’s been puppin’ lonely during COVID times. Your home could be the perfect fit for raising a puppy for Summit Assistance Dogs, a nonprofit org that trains highly-skilled mobility assistance dogs for people living with disabilities. Puppy sitters attend virtual training courses and are asked to devote 15-20 minutes each day to training, caring for pup’s basic needs, and socialization. The commitment duration spans anywhere from a few hours to a few months at a time before pup goes to his fur-ever home. It’s OK if puppy sitters have other pets; they just need to peacefully cohabitate with their puppies-in-training.
2. Blood Donation at BluePearl Blood Bank
Doggo loves bein’ a hero, and right now there’s a nationwide dog blood shortage. To help save someone else’s beloved BFF (best furry fren) at BluePearl Animal Hospital, dogs must be healthy, well-behaved, 1-6 years old, 55+ pounds, pup-to-date on vaccines, and not taking any long-term meds (flea preventive is ok). Vet techs’ll treat pup like a king throughout the process, giving him lots of snaccs. And should woofer ever need a transfusion, he’ll be eligible for a free one. Due to the high cost of screening donors, pup must donate 12 times throughout three years.
3. Cleanup at Camp Long
Leash your little one, gather a group of friends, and help the Camp Long Environmental Learning Center complete an improvement and maintenance plan for two miles of trails in the forest. Socially distance with friends, do good for your community, and get pupper some exercise! Fill out an online application to get started.

Humans can join the Pet Partners Facebook Group and submit videos of reading to their dogs, teaching their dog to do tricks, or giving information about their breed and training. Pet Partners picks the best of the best videos and sends ‘em on to people who need a smile most right now.
